TWO lanes were closed on the M56 this afternoon, Thursday.
This followed a crash on the eastbound carriageway which caused slow moving traffic to build up.
The accident occurred at junction 10 for the A49 Tarporley Road at Stretton, with congestion stretching back to junction 11 for Preston Brook.
Lanes two and three, of three, were closed but have since reopened.

Traffic officers from National Highways attended the scene as did officers from Cheshire Police’s roads and crime unit and North West Motorway Police.
A lane closure remains in place on the M6 southbound after a crane crashed into a bridge this morning.
The exit slip road at junction 22 for Winwick Link Road remains closed for resurfacing work after emergency crews worked to clear up a fuel spillage.
Traffic is said to be coping well, however at its height, Congestion stretched back to junction 25 for Bryn, with travel time around 90 minutes.
