Ego restaurant to open in Lymm as Green Dragon closes

Ego will be introducing a sister site in Mill Lane but it will also mean the closure of Vintage Inn's Green Dragon pub.

The new restaurant is expected to open between late October and mid November with the Green Dragon closing today, Tuesday.

Ego Lymm will be the chain's 24th Mediterranean eatery and will be 'set in a beautifully converted character pub'.

A spokesman for Ego told us: "Ego are due to open another sister site in Lymm at the Green Dragon. It will be run by our very own Jon Mensforth who has worked for Ego in numerous sites for many years. Very exciting times."

On Facebook the Green Dragon team added: "It is with a very heavy heart that Team Green Dragon have to announce that we will be closing our doors on Tuesday, August 31, for the final time as a Vintage Inn.

"During our time as a Vintage Inn, we have been delighted to offer our brand of warm-hearted, traditional British hospitality to all our guests.

"We have been lucky to help celebrate many, many birthdays, engagements, christenings and even a few weddings in our time – and would like to thank everyone who has supported us.

We will miss celebrating those occasions with our guests, we will miss hosting you all whether it is Christmas Day, Mothers' Day or Fathers' Day or a weekday bite to eat. We have loved every minute of it, whether it was a great celebration or having that pint waiting for you on the bar at the end of your hard-working day.

Remaining Vintage Inn pubs in the area include the Walton Arms and Stretton Fox.
