A WOMAN has been jailed after stealing Pokemon cards from a supermarket.

Gaynor Dunn had been spared prison only days before she tried to steal the trading cards and alcohol valued at a total of £136.73 from Asda Cockhedge.

The 57-year-old, from Stockport, was also found in possession of foil – which is commonly used by shoplifters to avoid being detected by security alarms – at the time of the offence on Saturday, August 21.

She admitted attempted theft, going equipped and breaching a suspended sentence at Warrington Magistrates Court on Monday, August 23.

This suspended sentence was imposed by Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 11, for two counts of theft and one of attempted theft.

Dunn took food and alcohol and valued at a total of £653.15 from Tesco and Sainsburys stores in Baguley, Macclesfield and Trafford in March, June and on the previous day.

This week, she was jailed for 24 weeks by magistrates – with the offence ‘aggravated by her previous record of offending’ – and told to pay a £128 victim surcharge.

Forfeiture and destruction of the foil was also ordered.
