IT is 16 years since the demolition of this Warrington landmark.

The bus station at Golden Square was closed in July 2005 and demolished over the next year before the current bus interchanged was open.

A historic journey marked the closure of the old Warrington bus station.

A 40-year-old bus was the last to leave the station since it opened in 1979.

The bus station was demolished to make way for the expansion of Golden Square and relocated to its current home on Winwick Street.

Some 50 special guests with commemorative tickets were taken on a final tour by driver David Leigh.

Among the crowd were father and son Walter and David Foxhall.

Walter, aged 77, drove one of the first ever departures from the station and David was a driver with Warrington Borough Transport.
