MAJOR roadworks on one of Warrington's busiest routes start today, Monday, and are set to last 14 weeks.
Lovely Lane is being resurfaced in five phases.
The work has been postponed twice before, in April to June last year and February to April this year due to the pandemic.
The road, and its side roads, will be closed, in phases, between 7pm and 1am to undertake the works safely.
All roads will be fully open to traffic outside these times.
Phase 1 From Pink Eye Roundabout to Delamere Street/Collin Street
Phase 2 From Delamere Street/Collin Street to Wardour Street
Phase 3 From Wardour Street to the Railway Bridge
Phase 4 From the Railway Bridge to Bewsey Road/Lodge Lane
Phase 5 Junction at Lovely Lane, Bewsey Road, Folly Lane & Lodge Lane (this Phase is an addition to the original scheme)
A council spokesman said "Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works.
"Vehicular access will be under the control of the contractor as directed on site. Vehicles parked on the road or footway obstructing the works may be removed."
During Phases 1 to 4 the signed diversion route will be Pink Eye Roundabout, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Bewsey Street and vice versa. The Phase 5 diversion route will be Pink Eye Roundabout, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Lythgoes Lane, Winwick Road, Kerfoot Street and vice versa.
