WARRINGTON'S newest nightspot has opened its doors with the aim of reshaping perceptions of going out in Bridge Street.
The Grand has completely transformed the former Big Bar after an investment of about £250,000.
James Glover, from Hideout, and Mike Mason, from Institution, wanted to capitalise on the improvements being made to the town centre.
They reckon the £142.5million Time Square will have a knock-on effect on Bridge Street and give the former heart of the town a boost after many bar and shop closures over the years.
The project has generated a lot of excitement on social media so our photographer Dave Gillespie paid a visit on Friday.
James and Mike's art deco style upmarket bar has a fully waited on service and is described as a 'restaurant without food'. It has created 15 jobs.
One of the key features is two large beer tanks filled with Pilsner Urquell delivered direct from the brewery in Plzeň in the Czech Republic – with the pipework running along the ceiling.
The building's original ceiling has also been restored with the addition of chandeliers from The Savoy in London while there is a mix of booth style seating and plush velvet chairs.
James would like to give other parts of the town known for their hospitality like Stockton Heath and Cultural Quarter a run for their money.
He said: "The launch went really well and we had a fair few good reviews with people saying how they liked the decor and service.
"The overall support has been great – one or two don't think we can pull this off on Bridge Street but from what I've seen it's going to be perfect."
