STEVE Price insists assistant coach Andrew Henderson has not spoken to him about joining Leigh Centurions.
When news of head coach John Duffy’s departure emerged yesterday, reports claimed Henderson was to move to Leigh Sports Village as his replacement.
However, Warrington Wolves officials told the Guardian they had not been approached by Leigh to release Henderson from his contract.
The former London Broncos coach is leaving The Wire at the end of the season along with Price and fellow assistant Lee Briers.
Price played down the prospect of Henderson departing before then but believes he is ready to take on a head coaching role should one arise.
“I read the speculation about it but Hendo hasn’t spoken to me about Leigh,” he said.
“Hendo and myself have a great relationship. If that was the case, he would have spoken to me about it and he hasn’t.
“He’s a quality up-and-coming coach and he’s ready to go.
“If an opportunity came up I’m sure he would do a really sound job. He’s meticulous and thorough in his coaching.”
