WARRINGTON’S coronavirus vaccination bus is on the road again and has made the Town Hall its next stop this morning, Thursday.

The mobile vaccine unit is in operation up to 1pm today, offering jabs against Covid-19 to eligible people on a first come first served basis.

Those currently eligible are people aged 36 and over, those who turn 36 before July 1, people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, health and social care workers, and unpaid carers.

Those receiving vaccines on the bus can also receive a health and lifestyle information session through LiveWire's Lifestyles Team.

This will include advice on weight management, blood pressure, stopping smoking, health walks, and getting back into exercise.

Town Hall is the third stop on the schedule, with the bus already having called at the Warrington’s Own Buses depot and Woolston food manufacturing firm Greencore, to provide Covid jabs to eligible employees and volunteers.

Dr Laura Mount, Warrington GP and clinical director of Central and West Warrington Primary Care Network, said: “Our friendly team of vaccinators, clinic co-ordinators and volunteers are on board today to give first doses of the Covid vaccine to people who are eligible.

“We want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people in Warrington to get their jab.

“The bus provides us with a great way to take Covid vaccinations out into our communities to administer the jab safely and efficiently to eligible people who have not been able to visit one of our local vaccination sites.”

Thara Raj, Warrington’s director of public health, added: “We are delighted to be working with the NHS and Warrington’s Own Buses on this project to help get as many people as possible vaccinated in Warrington.

“The vaccine programme has been a great success so far, and we are working through the cohorts as quickly as possible.

“The range of settings that the vaccine has been delivered in is testament to the collaborative, whole-system approach in Warrington, and the vaccination bus is another great example of this.

“It is really encouraging news as more restrictions are eased that people aged 38 and over can now get their vaccine, so I would urge everyone who is eligible to get their jab as soon as possible.”

More details about the future timetable for the bus will be announced shortly.

If you wish to receive your jab, please bring your NHS number with you. If you do not know this, you can find it on any appointment letter you may have received from the NHS or online at nhs.uk/find-nhs-number

Please be aware, the session might end early if all vaccines have been administered and you may have to queue. You may also have to wait for 15 minutes after receiving your vaccination.

Anyone who receives their jab on the bus will be offered an appointment for their second vaccination at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.

If you are currently eligible to have the vaccine but do not want to wait for the bus, you can book an appointment at a local vaccination site by contacting your GP practice, visiting nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or calling 119.

If your workplace would like to be considered for a visit by the vaccination bus, you can contact the council’s public health team at publichealth@warrington.gov.uk

Please note you must have staff in your workplace who are eligible to get vaccinated but have not yet visited a vaccination site.
