THIS is the 999 call which alerted police to the brutal torture murder of Brian Waters.

Emergency services rushed to Burnt House Farm on the afternoon of June 19 2003 after being tipped off that ‘three men were beating somebody up’ at the scene, near to junction 19 of the M6 at Knutsford.

David Moran was the man who made the phone call from a payphone near to the rural site, which was being used as a cannabis farm by Mr Waters, under the orders of his boss John Wilson.

John Wilson

The organised crime gang head had instructed his associates – including Christopher Guest More Jnr, James Raven and Otis Matthews – to ransack and steal the grow and cultivating equipment before torturing the victim over a £20,000 debt.

Mr Waters was subjected to a horrendous four-hour ordeal in front of his own children – being suspended upside down from a beam, beaten with a metal bar and attacked with an industrial staple gun – and died as a result of his injuries aged 44.

Call handler: “Hello police.”

David Moran: “Hello, hiya.

“I’ve just come off the M6 from Manchester Airport – I’m not sure of the junction, is it 18?

“Going towards Northwich, is it the A556?

“I got there, and the first farm on the right-hand side, it was about 500 yards.

“It looked like there were three men beating somebody up in the courtyard.

“It didn’t look right at all.”

CH: “So you if you come off at junction 18 and take the A556?”

DM: “Yeah I think it’s 18.”

CH: “It’s 19 that one actually I think.”

DM: “19, yeah.

“About 500 yards on the right going towards Northwich, there’s a farmyard.

“It like there were three gentlemen, or three men, attacking a man.”

CH: “How long ago was that?”

DM: “About five minutes.”

CH: “Ok, so what’s your name please?”

DM: “I’d rather not get involved.”

CH: “That’s ok, I’ll look into it for you.”

DM: “Thank you very much.”

CH: “Thank you, bye.”

DM: “Thank you, bye.”
