NEARLY two-thirds of people in Warrington have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to the latest figures.

NHS data shows that 110,492 people had received a first vaccine jab by April 18 in the town, which calculates as 65 per cent of those aged 16 and over.

Of those vaccinated, 80,871 were aged 50 and over – 98 per cent of the age group.

It means 29,621 people aged between 16 to 49 have received a first dose of the vaccine.

The good news comes on the back of 33,290 second booster jabs being administered, bringing the total vaccination number to 143,782 – well on the way to hitting the 150,000 mark in the near future.

NHS data also reveals variation in coverage between different areas across Warrington.

The proportion of residents prioritised for vaccinations, such as those aged 50 and over, is one factor that could affect vaccine coverage.
