POLICE and trading standards officers have seized plasma TV screens being sold in Dallam.
Officers from trading standards were called to an incident at Alban Retail Park by officers from Cheshire Police.
A member of the public had contacted the police to report that plasma TVs were being sold from the back of a van.
A man was selling these near to a well-known electrical retailer.
Police discovered broken plasma televisions being offered for sale from a white transit.
A spokesman said: "These televisions have been sold in the town by people who knew they were damaged goods, for considerably less than what they would cost on the high street.
"Consumers have seemingly been purchasing them in good faith only to get home and discover the bargain they have just snapped up is actually broken and useless and there will be little or no chance of getting their money back. "
Edwina Greenwood, principal trading standards officer, added: "We are making further inquiries about these products and are liaising with other trading standards authorities.
"I would encourage anyone who has bought similar items under these circumstances to contact trading standards for further advice on 08454 04 05 06."
