A Warrington-based dance school has had a double celebration as staff reopened their doors to students and marked the business’ 25th anniversary with some special guests.

AT Dance, in Stockton Heath and Appleton Thorn, welcomed children and young people back to their face to face classes and recorded a virtual show outside.

Senior students enjoyed a musical theatre and dance day with resident musical theatre director Sam Poston joined by guest teachers Betty Hall, Thomas Cooper and Dane Quixall.

Former student Betty completed her dance training at LIPA last September, EPA College’s Thomas performs on P&O cruise ships and Dane is the resident director of Cats the Musical on its world tour.

Dane met AT Dance principal Karen Speers and her daughter Carla, who is vice principal, when he was 14, performing in a musical production she was choreographing, and he has gone on to appear in shows around the world including West End productions of Cats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Le Cage aux Folles.

Karen said: “All of our students and teachers have to follow Covid-safe procedures but to see them back at live classes was fantastic.

“Their smiles were uplifting after such a hard year.

“We haven’t been able to celebrate our 25 years of quality dance and performing arts training in Warrington but this is the start of the road back to normality and we have lots of exciting events planned for the rest of the year.”
