Eight-year-old Connie Pollard has beautiful blonde hair – long enough to sit on – but this week the youngster has had her long locks chopped to raise money for a children’s charity.
The Gorse Covert Primary School pupil had 17 inches cut off on Monday and as well as collecting more than £700 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital she also donated her ponytail to the Little Princess Trust.
Connie, from Birchwood, was born with a tethered spinal cord and was looked after at Alder Hey.
When she decided to have her hair cut she knew she wanted to support their fundraising campaign.
Connie said: “I’m known for my very long hair and I decided that I wanted to have a big hair cut.
“I wanted to donate it to Little Princess Trust because they make it into wigs for children with cancer.
“It’s a big deal for me to have my hair cut so I thought it would be a good idea to be sponsored while I did it and raise some money for Alder Hey.”
Lynne Farrell of Hairlistics did the chop free of charge.
