Powell confirmed he would be leaving the Tigers at the end of the season after eight years in charge, shortly after Price announced he would be doing the same to return to Australia with his family.
Since taking charge in 2013, the 55-year-old has led Castleford to a Challenge Cup Final in 2014 and a Super League Grand Final in 2017 - the same year his side won the League Leaders' Shield in dominant fashion.
Before joining Castleford, he coached Featherstone Rovers to three Championship league leaders' titles as well as having spells at Keighley Cougars, Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Tykes rugby union.
