THE night buses will be back on the town's roads again this weekend.

These are the special services which run from 2am until 4.30am to take late night revellers home safely.

The scheme is now in its fourth year and I have always been a supporter of it.

Lots of the trouble on our streets is caused by people who have had too much to drink who can't get a taxi.

I've witnessed it myself.

Despite the huge number of taxis we have in this town, there never seems to be enough at the end of the night.

And it only takes one idiot to try to jump the taxi queue for fights to break out and often innocent people become unwittingly embroiled.

With more and more pubs being opened for longer and longer, it's vital that we think about getting people home safely.

The buses are not only cheap compared to taxis at only £2 no matter how far your journey - making them accessible for everyone - but there are marshals in Bridge Street to help passengers get on board safely and on the buses too.

It's brilliant and Warrington Borough Transport deserves praise for this scheme.

I would like to see these buses in operation all year round so that our young people can get home safely every night rather than just at Christmas and New Year.

I don't know how much it would cost, but I think it would be worth every penny.
