THE Government has announced as part of its Covid Winter Plan how sports fans can return to stadiums after lockdown.
This comes too late for Super League clubs this season, with the Grand Final on Friday concluding the 2020 campaign, but will bring hope to the sport for the start of next season.
From December 2, 4,000 supporters or 50% of capacity - whichever figure is the lower - will be allowed into sports stadiums situated in Tier 1 areas.
While in Tier 2 areas, 2,000 fans or 50% of capacity will be allowed entry.
"A big step forward for fans as we work towards fuller capacities," said Oliver Dowden, secretary for digital, culture, media and sport.
"Thanks to pilot hosts & fans for showing this can be done safely."
