GRILL on the Square has celebrated10 years in the Cultural Quarter with a new look and refurbishment project.
Charles Dobosz and Adam Smith, who met while working at Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines’ Abode in Manchester, established the contemporary restaurant in 2010.
The duo have since become a huge part of Warrington’s dining out scene – launching the hugely popular Las Ramblas, San Lorenzo and The Terrace bar over the same period.
Charles said: “It’s been a fantastic journey, we’re so grateful to everyone who has visited us at The Grill on the Square over the past decade.
“Our guests are extremely supportive, the volume of reservations we received following the announcement that we could reopen and their trust in us has been overwhelming and our motivation to continually improve.”
The main changes to mark the milestone and to welcome diners back after a tough few months include new booth seating, new tables and granite bar top.
Charles, who scooped Restaurant of the Year for Las Ramblas in our Customer Service Awards in 2019, said: “To celebrate 10 years, we wanted to reopen The Grill with a fresh new look, so the restaurant and bar has had a complete refurbishment to complement our fresh new seasonal menu, and new cocktail menu.
“A team of Warrington tradesmen and contractors, including Phil Bennett and GS Upholstery, have done a fantastic job of transforming the décor with new booth seating, new tables, granite bar top and polished wooden floors creating a brighter, more vibrant space.”
Adam added: “The new restaurant’s redesign also gave us the perfect opportunity to integrate new safety procedures including screens at the greeting stand, one-way system around the restaurant, and hand sanitiser stations at key points through the venue.”
There is plenty of choice across The Grill’s seasonal lunch, a la carte, early dining and Sunday roast menus, including fresh fish and seafood alongside ‘elevated classics’ like the chicken and chorizo pie and roast duck breast.
You can also splash out on Japanese Kobe beef steak, claimed to be the most succulent and tastiest meat in the world.
Adam said: “We also love to include local ingredients on our menus as we believe in ‘buy local, eat local’.
“As well as the outstanding quality available across Cheshire, it’s great to support the area’s suppliers.
“Our new menu includes rare breed pork belly from Snoutwood Trotters in Great Sankey, specialist seasonal vegetables from Growing at Field 28 in Daresbury and many other nearby producers.”
Grill on the Square is participating in the government's ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme which offers diners 50 per cent off, up to £10 per person, all day Monday to Wednesday throughout August.
Charles added: “It’s a creative initiative that provides a great opportunity to enjoy a discounted meal, while supporting a business.
"In addition, Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s VAT discount on restaurant food – reducing the rate from 20 per cent to five per cent is being passed directly to our guests by being deducted from their final bill, all day, every day including weekends.
"The government has provided some supportive measures for our industry which we are grateful for. We do not see them as a short-term cash grab, but tools to help us keep our business going long term as we would love to be here, and will strive to be here in another 10 years from now.”
