THE sound of bagpipes filled the air at Warrington Hospital while dinosaurs were spotted roaming the streets as the town clapped for our carers.

Every Thursday at 8pm during the coronavirus lockdown, residents have been showing their appreciation for the vital efforts of NHS staff and care workers in the fight against the pandemic.

And yesterday evening was no different.

Pipers played outside the hospital, with another huge show of solidarity from Cheshire Police – whose officers lit up the lights of their patrol cars in thanks – on display.

Meanwhile, sisters Amelia and Annie Stuart gave a performance of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World on the trumpet and trombone on Vauxhall Close in Penketh.

Resident June Roche said: “They are so talented, it brings the whole street together.

“The girls brighten up our hearts through this difficult time.”

Elsewhere, nine-year-old Ethan Wildle serenaded his neighbours in Latchford with Ben E King’s Stand by Me.
