WARRINGTON Wolves winger Tom Lineham says he felt like he had been 'hit by a bus' after contracting coronavirus.
The 27-year-old full-time professional athlete announced in a club video that Covid-19 has put him out of action for a week.
Although he seemed in good spirits, the England Knights international says he is still suffering from some of the symptoms.
"I've had the virus. It's got me," he declared.
"My Mrs is on the frontline working at Wigan Hospital. She contracted the virus and brought it home.
"For a week I've been fighting it off. I've felt like I've been hit by a bus.
"I've had all the symptoms – fever, boiling hot one minute and freezing cold the next; I felt like the dogs were sat on my chest with the breathing difficulties; aching head to toe; and now I've lost all sense of smell and taste.
"I've been out of action for a week.
"I had a pretty good routine going before that in the lockdown, but the virus got me so I'm trying to fight that off and come out the other side."
Leeds-born Lineham, who said he is looking forward to spending time with family - including his nine months old nephew - and friends back in his home city when the pandemic eases, concluded: "We need to continue as a nation to take a stoical response, which means enduring pain and hardship without complaining too much.
"Stay safe, look after your loved ones, your family, be the best versions of yourself and we'll all get through this together. Stay strong."
