FALKLANDS War hero Simon Weston is calling on people from Warrington to nominate their unsung heroes.
Simon has joined forces with hearing specialist Amplifon, which has a clinic in Buttermarket Street, for The Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons 2020.
This will celebrate people's selfless actions, such as the Single Act of Bravery Award, Service to Their Country, Against All Odds, Young Hero, and even Hero Pet.
Simon's life was changed forever when the RFA Sir Galahad was bombed by two Argentine planes during the Falklands War.
Against the odds Simon escaped the burning ship, but only after suffering 46 per cent burns to his body.
He was awarded the OBE in 1992.
Now, the war hero is helping the Amplifon Awards find the UK's most remarkable people.
Simon said: "The Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons will shine a light on a very British breed of hero.
"Those, like Amplifon founder and Second World War hero Major Charles Holland, who through incredible acts of courage, selflessness and dedication, are an inspiration to others."
Charles Holland is decorated by both the British and the American military for his bravery behind enemy lines.
He was awarded both the MBE and the Military Cross and received the Bronze Star from the United States Government in 1948.
The closing date for Amplifon Awards entries is Friday, June 19, and nominations can be made via the Amplifon website at amplifon.com/uk/about-us/brave-briton-awards.
