LOCKING Stumps Community Primary School transformed into Warrington's very own Hogwarts for World Book Day.
Youngsters, dressed as witches and wizards, received a special acceptance letter to 'Lockwarts' and experienced a whole host of magical activities.
As children walked through the school entrance, they were greeted with music and smoke, courtesy of Cheshire Fire, before collecting a special quill to use throughout the day.
On the playground they were greeted by eagles, owls, a goblin and Quidditch pitches.
Jamie Vermiglio, head teacher, said: "The purpose of World Book Day is to inspire and promote a love of reading in order to create lifelong readers within our community.
"At Locking Stumps we aim to do this by setting good examples, celebrating reading achievements, delivering high quality reading, teaching and exciting children’s curiosity.
"Our World Book Day theme day aims not only to promote a love of reading but to excite and engage children’s imaginations by completing a range of activities in relation to a ‘reading theme’.
"We aim for children’s excitement to build on the lead up to World Book Day and for them to feel energised and excited by what they experience."
Some of the activities included a story with Grumplesnotskin the goblin, a flying show from the birds of prey, a Harry Potter style dinner and the chance to make butter beer.
Pupils were also treated to a magician, book hunt, egg and broom race, potion making, and a taste of green screen technology.
Mr Vermiglio added: "The children and parents were amazed.
"We believe that an enriching and exciting curriculum is an important part of school life.
"The World Book Day displays the parent/carer commitment we are lucky to have at our school, as well as the dedication of our school staff to go above and beyond to enable our children to experience a day like no other.
"We have already stated to plan next year’s event!"
