WARRINGTON Wolves' world champion PDRL team will light up the Magic again this year.

The Wire physical disability rugby league side, which features comedian Adam Hills in their ranks, brought the house down in their match with Leeds Rhinos during the 2019 Magic Weekend event at Anfield in Liverpool.

But this year's event at St James' Park in Newcastle will be a double dose of Wire versus Wigan, with Steve Price's side facing Adrian Lam's team in the Super League battle on Sunday, May 24, kick-off 2.45pm, and then the clubs' PDRL sides will collide around 5.45pm during the half-time interval of the weekend's final Super League game between Wakefield Trinity and Hull Kingston Rovers.

PDRL fixtures are made up of two nine-a-side teams, consisting of even players with a physical disability and two able-bodied players.

The format involves both full contact and touch tackle options.

Wolves PDRL starred in the award-winning Channel 4 documentary Take His Legs which was broadcast last year.

The programme followed their journey from their inaugural match, to becoming world champions when they beat South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium in Australia.

The PDRL game will cap a weekend feast of rugby league, the round of Super League in which every game is played at the one venue over two days.

The schedule on Saturday sees Castleford Tigers v Catalans Dragons (3pm), St Helens v Salford Red Devils (5.15pm), Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC (7.30pm); and then on Sunday Huddersfield Giants v Toronto Wolfpack (12.30pm), Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves (2.45pm), Wakefield Trinity v Hull Kingston Rovers (5pm).

Newcastle Thunder will kick things off on Saturday at 12.30pm, playing at Newcastle United's ground for the first time against Doncaster in Betfred League One.
