WARRINGTON Wolves have moved to deny rumours of a long-term injury to marquee signing Gareth Widdop.
Reports emerged yesterday evening and overnight that the half-back would miss the start of the Super League season with a serious pectoral injury, which would keep him our for up to four months.
However, Wolves chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick told the Guardian the reports were inaccurate and that while he did pick up an injury in Great Britain's defeat to Papua New Guinea, he is expected to start pre-season training as normal after Christmas.
"Reports claiming Gareth is out with a long-term injury are incorrect," he said.
"He did pick up a knock in the last game for GB, but he should be fit for the start of his pre-season training."
