WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed their third signing for the 2020 season.
Democratic Republic of Congo-born prop Samy Kibula has penned a one-year deal with The Wire and will join from neighbours Wigan Warriors.
The 20-year-old came through Wigan’s youth system – winning Academy Grand Finals in 2017 and 2018 – but made just one first-grade appearance for the Warriors.
Kibula, who stands at 6ft 4in tall, has played most of his rugby at Championship and League One level for Swinton Lions, Dewsbury Rams and London Skolars in loan and dual-registration spells.
Despite his lack of Super League experience, however, Steve Price is confident Kibula can become a first-team star at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
“Samy’s been really consistent in his performances over the second part of the season with Swinton and has grown as a young person,” he said.
“He’s a big lad and has certainly got some good leg speed and handy ball skills in him.
“He’s still got a lot of development in his game and a lot of hard work in front of him, but we will be doing everything we can to help him become a first-team player.”
Kibula joins Swinton Lions winger Matty Ashton and St George Illawarra half-back Gareth Widdop as new additions for next season that have been confirmed by The Wire thus far.
The England youth international says his move to Warrington marks the start of “a new and exciting chapter” in his life.
“I’m delighted to have signed for Warrington Wolves,” he said.
“It is a club always competing for trophies and that excites me. I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and players.
“This is a new and exciting chapter in my life and I can’t wait to get started.”
