AT the age of 20, Meg Duckworth was told she could have only six months to live.
Now, three years on, the mum-of-two is back in good health and has opened her own kids’ clothing boutique.
It was in June 2016, two days before her 21st birthday, that doctors told Meg she had a serious heart condition.
Within a week, she had undergone life-saving surgery and had a pacemaker fitted.
The now 24-year-old, from Woolston, said: “I was quite sporty – I played football and did ice skating and horse riding – but I was passing out and fainting.
“It had been going on for about six years – I had a cardiac arrest when I was 14 and another when I was 19.
“I went home with a heart monitor, which picked up that my heart had stopped four times in the night.
“They told me if I had another blackout in the next six months then I probably wouldn’t wake up from it because my heart was in such a bad condition.
“For my 21st birthday, I had a pacemaker put in.
“Nobody would expect that I’ve been through half the things I’ve been through – people think because of your age that you can’t have a heart condition, but it can happen at any age.”
Three years on and able to live a normal and active life again, Meg has set up her own business – named after her young daughter Aubrey.
Aubrey Strawberry’s Boutique, a unique children’s clothes shop, opened on Orford Lane at the end of May.
Meg, who is also mum to two-year-old son Carter, added: “We do a lot of Spanish-style baby clothes, the type of thing that Princess Charlotte and Prince George wear which is in fashion.
“There isn’t anywhere in Warrington that sells this type of stuff.

“When I’m dressing my kids I try to find nice outfits for affordable prices but it just doesn’t happen, so I wanted to open somewhere that’s affordable for everyone.

“I started in the market with a pop-up stall every Saturday.
“We do occasion wear as well, with dresses for Walking Day and holy communions – we have casualwear for older kids too.
“Three years ago, I never thought that I’d be doing anything like this.”
