A LIBRARY has been forced to reduce its opening hours ‘to ensure the safety’ of service users following anti-social behaviour.
Padgate Library will close at the earlier time of 2.30pm today, Tuesday, as well as tomorrow, Wednesday, and on Thursday.
It follows ‘ongoing’ anti-social behaviour issues around the Insall Road library, which is usually open from 10am to 5pm.
Livewire, which runs the town's libraries, says the measures have been taken to ‘ensure the safety of library users and staff’.
A spokesman told the Warrington Guardian: “Due to ongoing anti-social behaviour, we are closing Padgate Library at the earlier time of 2.30pm today, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however this is a necessary measure to ensure the safety of both our staff and library users.
“Livewire is working closely with the relevant authorities regarding the management of this issue.”
