MEASURES to improve air quality are set to be at the heart of Warrington's ambitious transport plan.
A draft of the council's next local transport plan, LTP4, is due to come before the executive board in December ahead of a consultation in the new year.
Cllr Hans Mundry, executive board member for highways, transportation and public realm, provided an update during Monday's full council meeting.
He admitted one of the major challenges is improving air quality, particularly for the town's most vulnerable residents.

And Cllr Mundry said creating a 'less car-dependent culture' will ease town centre congestion.
He added: "The influence transport can have on improving air quality of the borough is highlighted by the 13 transport-related actions that were included in the air quality action plan.
"These are being fully considered for the development of the draft LTP4.
"We are, therefore, putting air quality considerations at the heart of our development of LTP4.
"I am expecting the draft LTP4 to set out an ambitious vision for transport in Warrington, aimed at reducing the number of journeys made by private cars and increasing trips made by public transport and walking."
