The end of the season come to a disappointing end at The Willows after we found out the final result of the Saints and Wigan game.
All the lads were really gutted to not have made the top six, especially after the effort that went into beating Salford with all the injuries we had leading up to the game. I was sad not to be able to play in the game because i would of liked to have played a part in Grosey, Henry and Chris Leikvol's final game for the Wolves, and i know they were really upset to have played there last game in a Wolves shirt and its been a great effort from all three of them since they joined us.
It was good to see 5 of the lads get a call up for the GB train on squad, all 5 of the players deserve it because they have worked hard all year to achieve there own personal goals and i am sure they are delighted to have been selected. It's been a big year for Kevin Penny, first he gets picked for the Dream Team and then he get's the GB call up, he his proof that if you work hard you can achieve your goals, well done Kevin. I hope that all 5 can feature for GB against the Kiwis and do Warrington proud.
I know its not been the year we all expected and nobody is more disappointed then the players, coaching staff and the board, but certain things happened that we can't control with all the injuries. I have never known a injury list like it before but that's sport for you. There is no amount of training or physio that can be done to prevent those injuries, its just the luck of the draw we have had with the physical bangs. Hopefully has a team we can put these injuries to the back of our mind and come back strong next season. I am looking forward to playing with all the new signings next season but at the moment i am going to concentrate on resting up and getting my shoulder ready for pre-season and i am sure the rest of the lads will be doing the same with there injuries.
Because we have 4 weeks off till we start full training again its a really stressful time because i know a lot of the lads miss the physical side of the game and the team banter, so it could be a hard 4 weeks for the players partners because they will get it in the neck. I would like to thank everybody that has supported us home and way this year, it is very much appreciated and the lads really do thank you all for your support.
Speak soon, Woody.
