The car fire this morning
TRAFFIC was tailing back to Burtonwood after a car fire closed the M62 this morning, Friday.
The westbound carriageway towards Liverpool remains closed after the fire near junction seven for Rainhill Stoops.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area as the road has been closed since 8.50am while firefighters tackle the flames.
The fire is now out but a clean-up is under way.
However due to a large diesel spill on the carriageway a gritter needed to attend.
The road was reopened at 12pm.
