Fifteen-year-old Dr Who fan Daniel Miller, from Dallam, sent us his verdict on the official switch-on of Blackpool Illuminations.

Blackpool illuminations were illuminated on Friday 31st august by David tennent now playing doctor who.David tennent switched on the lights on at around 9:35 with crowds of 21,000 in side the Radio 2 arena and an extra 20,000 watching from outside .
it was a very enjoyable night with the likes of Mc fly,Natasha Bedingfield , Ghosts , Gareth gates who where all looking there best . doctor who David tennet gave a very clear message as he entered the stage and said '' ILLUMINATE NOT EXTERMINATE ........ HE said to his arch enemy the dalek later David tennent went on by saying '' Red rum once illuminated Blackpool with his hoof and i am glad to be following the hoof of red rum . New for 2007 illuminates are 2 new sections they the worlds famous sir Lawrence lIewelyn- bowen his section starts at the tower witch is called DECO DANCE which is amazing and terrific and of course the new doctor who lights with monsters from series 1 - 3 including the Cybermen,Jadoon,dalek sec, Martha ,Slatheen and many more . many people after the illuminations SAID '' we were queuing up for 3-9 hours but was worth every minute and every one of the acts where great epcept David tennent as he was out of this world ''.
before David tennent came on to the radio 2 stage mc fly gave the audience a que that David tennent doctor who was about to come on at that time the sound of the tardis was played and doctor who David tennent emerged from behind the famous blue police box know as the TARDIS .the lights are an until November 4th and are switched off at 11:30pm .
the lights are the best ever SEEN IN BLACKPOOL FOR YEARS !!!.
