GEORGE King will leave Warrington Wolves at the end of this season, the player himself announced after today’s Challenge Cup Final.
The prop – a try-scorer in The Wire’s 20-14 loss to Catalans Dragons at Wembley Stadium – confirmed he would be joining Wakefield Trinity next year.
Neither club has officially confirmed the move, but the 23-year-old said leaving Warrington would be “emotional.”
“I’ve got to take everything as it comes now,” he said.
“It is going to be really emotional leaving the club. They have been so good to me over the years and I can only thank them for making me the player I am today.
“I can’t wait to go to Wakefield and hopefully be back here at Wembley again.”
King scored The Wire’s second try as they tried to force their way back into the game following a poor first half.
However, it was not to be as the Dragons became the first French club to win the Challenge Cup.

King says the squad cannot afford to dwell on their defeat, with a Super 8s clash with Hull FC just five days away.
“We showed plenty to get back in the fight, but I thought Catalans were terrific today,” he said.
“They took their chances a bit better than we did. The first 20 minutes took a lot of energy out of us.
“We tried our damnedest in the last 15 minutes or so but it wasn’t good enough.
“It was a nice feeling to get a try, but I’d have rather had the win any day of the week.
“We left ourselves with too much to do. When you play in big games like this, you have to take your chances.
“Pricey told us there is no point dwelling on it because we have to go again in a few days.
“We’ll have a couple of days for reflection, but after that it’s all about Super League again.”
