I DON'T think there can be anyone in this town who isn't sickened by the death of father-of-three Garry Newlove.
Even those connected to the crime must surely feel something? I certainly hope so.
He was the same age as me - just a normal dad.
While his family prayed for him to recover on Saturday, one of his daughters - Amy - wrote her father a letter saying how much he was loved.
It was truly heart-breaking.
It was an ordinary Friday night in a popular part of the town.
All Garry wanted was to protect his property - a very normal reaction.
Most of us - before this happened - would, I am sure, not have hesitated to tackle a bunch of kids if they were attacking your home, car or property.
This has made us all think twice about that and that's disturbing.
Your home and your family are surely the most important things that any of us has.
What has become of our society that a normal dad can be murdered outside his own home?
What must the parents of those responsible be feeling?
We need to do something to tackle this lawlessness now before another life is tragically wasted.
