A POLICE officer accused of carrying out lurid sex acts while on duty has been arrested.
The 34-year-old who lives and works as a PC in Warrington was taken in for questioning today, Monday, after a national tabloid claimed he had been caught on camera dogging in his panda car with two prostitutes.
The shocking sex acts which are believed to have taken place in Burtonwood and the car park of B&Q, on Winwick Road, were then photographed and splashed across the Sunday People yesterday.
Following news of the sex scandal Assistant Chief Constable David Baines said: "On Saturday 4 August 2007 we were supplied with information from the Sunday People newspaper which implied that a Cheshire police officer had committed a very serious act of misconduct while on duty.
"As a result of this information an investigation by the Constabulary's Professional Standards Department commenced into all the circumstances reported to us by the Sunday People newspaper.
"As a result of those enquiries a serving constable based at Warrington was arrested this morning on suspicion of malfeasance in public office.
"The officer is currently in the process of being interviewed."
The police officer had not been charged.
