NEW play equipment in Lymm has been vandalised - just weeks after being installed.
Part of the equipment, in Statham Park off Star Lane, was torched by vandals.
And while the damage was just superficial, residents are worried that more could be ruined permanently if the vandalism continued.
The equipment, which includes climbing frames and see-saws, was paid for by Warrington Borough Council.
Lymm councillor Sheila Woodyatt (CON) said: "I was there the other day and there were gangs of kids enjoying it.
"It has a fence round it and has been designed for the younger kids.
"It is very disappointing then when this happens.
"It brings teenagers into disrepute when it is only a small minority of them that are doing it."
Councillors are hoping that new equipment can also be installed on the play area at nearby Ridgeway Grundy Park, which currently is also home to a skate park.
As reported in the Warrington Guardian last week, Lymm Parish Council is considering building similar play equipment up on the current May Queen field after requests from residents in the area.
