THREE men have been arrested following an attack on an ambulance that delayed the treatment of a man who later died.
Norman Bell, who lived in Newton, suffered a heart attack while playing crown green bowls at a club in Ashton-in-Makerfield. A group then allegedly targeted paramedics who had tried to offer the 84-year-old treatment.
An ambulance crew were called to the scene at 7.45pm on Thursday, July 19, but a gang threatened the crew and police say that at one point a motorbike was put in the path of the ambulance, stopping it from moving.
The men, aged 25, 22 and 21 and all from Newton have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been released on police bail until August 10 pending further inquiries.
