THANK goodness common sense has at last prevailed and the three old ladies who were separated by a care home closure are reunited once more.
Ninety six-year-old Agnes Nicholson, Ivy Robinson and Mary Jones, both 86, had to go to different care homes when their own - Houghton Hall in Orford closed in June.
The three friends should never have had to go through the trauma of being split up in the first place.
I'm sure their demands were not too onerous. To have the companionship of like-minded friends in the twilight of their years is hardly too much to ask is it?
It's about time we started treating old folk with dignity.
They at least deserve the respect of good quality care in a home with people they have some affinity with.
Mary's daughter says that their new home in Culcheth is "lovely" and that they are very happy together once more.
Let's hope they continue to enjoy their new home and spending time together.
