BIRCHWOOD has around 11 nurseries thanks to its' daily influx of commuters and last week there was news to make residents fed up with the noise even angrier.
The neighbours of two nurseries in Delenty Drive have long fought expansion plans both because of the potential increase in noise and traffic.
Both nurseries presented schemes to the planning committee last week - and both decisions went against the residents' wishes.
The 32-child Risley Day Nursery wanted to change one building into residential property and its other building into offices.
Clr Pauline Nelson from Birchwood Town Council said: "The nursery has caused serious problems over the years with noise an traffic and as far as everyone in the area is concerned this is a perfect opportunity to go back to how it was in 2001."
But to the residents disbelief the council officers said the residential application would add to the housing oversupply. And the committee agreed by refusing the application.
Then came an application from nearby Heathfield House to expand its number of children from 20 to 32.
The town council and a neighbour objected. Clr Nelson said on a warm day the noise was horrendous'.
Resident Mr Bolton said one night he had seen five double parked cars outside another nearby nursery and feared the same.
Council officers recommended approval and the committee again concurred with the recommendation
