THE fighters pictured here were at risk of knockouts when it came to competitions.
They did not have a ring to train in and had to mark out their sparring area with cones.
When it came to fighting rivals in real boxing rings, they looked trapped as they struggled to get used to the ropes. Help was at hand though.
Their club, Phoenix Olympia Boxing Centre, won a £3,000 grant from Vodafaone that paid for new equipment and a new boxing ring.
Tom Mellor, aged 21, the club's development officer, from Padgate, was delighted with the grant.
