The brand new Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington is the venue for the next XIII Heroes rugby league charity fundraiser.
This coming Friday and Saturday, the 27 th and 28 th July, a team of thirteen rugby league fans will each complete a half marathon to raise funds for ex Warrington, Wakefield and Leigh Centurions player Ian Knott.
The team won’t be running around the centre, but using two treadmills generously loaned by the JJB leisure chain.
They will be set up on the main concourse outside Debenhams, with runners going non - stop during the centre opening hours of 9.00am to 6.00pm
Tony Uzzell, Bradford Bulls fan and managing director of Sandbach based company Synsol Ltd, has generously agreed to sponsor the event with a four figure sum. Tony was the team driver for our Anglo Welsh challenge, and having somehow put up with a week of moans and groans, he has stepped in to offer more support.
Warrington Wolves are supporting the event by providing the chance for one lucky Wolves fan to win a day as team mascot at the Catalans Dragons home game on the 19 th August. Tickets will be on sale over the two days.
Several current Warrington Wolves players, and of course Wolfie himself will be giving up their time to support Ian. They will be joining the XIII Heroes team between 12.00pm and 2.00pm on the Saturday.
As if that wasn’t enough, Wolves media and PR guru Gina Coldrick is actually going to complete one of the half marathons. A good enough reason for any Wolves fan to get along!!
If you can’t be there to support the event, you can make an online donation to support Ian at www.xiiiheroes.com/donations.html.
