LITTER pickers could be on the streets of Lymm as part of a pioneering project.
The parish council has agreed to volunteer to take part in a pilot Warrington Borough Council scheme that would see teams of staff hit the streets to tackle particular trouble spots.
They would work as directed by the parish council to tackle problems specific to the village rather than the current system.
Clr Ian Marks told the latest meeting of Lymm Parish Council that the borough council was keen to trial the scheme.
He added: "We are not talking about taking on extra employees for the parish council. We want to try these things out.
"There would be a team that would come here and report to the clerk and she would say where they would go."
The pilots are being offered to parish councils across town but only a small number may be handed out so Lymm could still miss out.
Clr Marks added: "If 18 parish councils apply, they may not all actually get it. There are only a small number of pilots."
The parish council agreed to bid for help with litter picking and also with grounds maintenance.
A decision will be made in September this year on which parish councils have been successful. gdunning@guardiangrp.co.uk
