A MAN has died after a crash on the M56 yesterday afternoon.
The motorway was shut westbound between junction nine at Lymm and junction 10 at Stretton after a white Mercedes Sprinter van collided with the central reservation shortly before 12.30pm on Tuesday, November 21.
A 56-year-old man from Northwich, the driver of the van, was taken to Warrington Hospital but later died.
Cheshire Police believe he may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel before the crash.
A spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances and a report will be sent to the coroner.”
The westbound carriageway of the M56 remained shut until shortly before 5pm.
