A car collided with a wall in Great Sankey this morning partly demolishing the wall of two houses.
The red hatchback went across the central carriageway as it travelled on the A562 Warrington Road.
The passenger told the Warrington Guardian at the scene that the power steering had failed when the car was in collision with the central reservation.
Skid marks showed the car then went into the wall of two homes next to Brookside Avenue.
The passenger said the men were from Essex and were working at Fiddlers Ferry power station.
Neither appeared, hurt although the crash had knocked out the windscreen and front number plate, set off the airbags and caused major damage to the front of the car.
A neighbour said there had been several similar collisions where cars had cross the central reservation as they headed out of the town centre.
Police had cordoned off the inside lane when the Guardian arrived at around 7.50am, and paramedics were in attendance.
