A MUGGER threatened a disabled man with a knife in a bit to snatch his money.

The 51-year-old, who was in a wheelchair, had the knife brandished at his throat after he withdrew cash at a TSB ATM on Poplars Avenue, Orford.

The incident happened on Sunday at 10.30am after the victim was approached by a man on a bike.

But when the victim, who was on his mobility scooter, refused to hand over his money the-would be robber fled down an alley at the side of Orford Library.

A spokesman for Warrington police said: "The victim was shaken but assisted by passers-by.

"It is believed the offender had been having an argument with a female before the incident and detectives are keen to speak to her as should could be a key witnesses."

The attacker is about 25-years-old and 5ft 10ins tall with a long of facial stubble.

He was thin with dark hair, dark eyes and sunken cheeks.

At the time he wore a parka jacket with fur lining around the hood.

The woman police want to speak to is around 25-years-old with dark blond hair tied back in a short pony tail.

She had a shaped face and wore a red Sprayway jacket with three quarter length grey tracksuit bottoms.

She was also on a bike.
