HE looks every inch the groomed and preened pup, but things were very different for this Yorkshire terrier.
He was found stuck in a bramble hedge, his fur so thick, overgrown and matted, that he was actually stuck to the plant.
A member of the public who had found the dog took him to Cheshire Dogs Home.
His thick coat had left him virtually blind and when his hair was cut away from his eyes he was squinting because he was not used to sunlight.
Within 20 minutes of him arriving staff had to call out for a vet to sedate him because he was becoming so distressed when they tried to trim his coat.
John Newton, senior supervisor at the home, said: "He died twice under sedation but luckily he came round. He is now like a puppy and very affectionate."
When it came to naming him there was one obvious title for the pooch - Bramble.
After being given a short back and sides, dog grooming company Potty On Dogs came down to the centre to give Bramble some much deserved pampering.
Now the 18-month-old dog is looking for a new home. Staff say he would be more suitable for a home without children.
