The Kingsway

Vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Big noise and huge energy. The Kingsway are the biggest, loudest band to explode out of the north west in the last ten years.

The band, formed in mid 2006, are a group of mates and musicians determined to give people something to party about, to party to and with, a local, home-grown reason to love live music again. Guitarist Tom Cummings, bassist Danny Markie and drummer Joe Cummings had been playing together and with other local musicians for several years before finding vocalist Wes Dolphin, when it was agreed that a line-up had been discovered that could really work together, could really make the music that the band felt should be being made and listened to. No drainpipe jeans or haircuts fresh from a salon, just a shared love of making and playing music that will make you move, shout, dance and smile. Instantly recognisable as a band aware of the musical heritage of their surroundings, The Kingsway are aiming to reawaken the passion that followed earlier northern bands such as The Stone Roses, Oasis, New Order and the Happy Mondays.

Upon formation, the band intended to create a full, solid and professional sounding set of original material before taking to the gig circuit in order to keep the momentum going once they had left the starting blocks. In the last half a year the band have played in their hometown of Warrington, Manchester, and Liverpool; in whose Academy 3, the band wowed a student crowd and were voted band of the month in Liverpool University's student paper. With two early recordings completed and available on the bands website, the crowds are gathering and each gig is drawing larger crowds than the last. A new venture with The Bridge Bar in Latchford has been set up to give the band a regular opportunity to play to their local fans, their friends and anyone else looking for a party and a fresh fix of quality music. A hardcore group of fans have ensured that no matter the date, or the venue, people will be there, and they will be dancing and shouting for more.
