A CRUMBLING building is spoiling the appearance of one of Warrington's most attractive villages according to residents.
The former corner shop in Thelwall has been vacant for years but now its crumbling façade has been joined by overgrown weeds and rats.
And residents and neighbours say the building has been an eyesore for too long.
The shop, on the corner of Alderley Road and Thelwall New Road, was once a fulcrum of the village but has now faded fast.
One resident said: "The front facade of the building is in an extreme state of disrepair with all the windows boarded up.
"Along with other villagers, I strongly believe that this eyesore must be having a detrimental effect on the prices of property in the area.
"We cannot understand why nothing has been done by the council to make the owners of this building clean up their act."
And neighbour, Mike Holmes, said the shop did not make an attractive sight.
He added: "It has been like that for years now and something needs to be done about it.
"We have been trying to speak to the owners to see what can be changed."
It is not known who owns the building.
