WESTY Park has been given a clean bill of health after an environmental study on the former waste disposal site.
Tests on the soil and water carried out by the Environment Agency and Warrington Borough Council around the park showed that the site was safe to use.
The all-clear will bring a boost to campaigners who want to see improvements to the park. The initial plans will be open to view at Westy Carnival at the park this Sunday.
Clr Brian Axcell, member for environment services, said: "We are already working on ideas to improve the park further. As ever, we would like to share these proposals with residents and seek their views on how they would like the park to be improved."
