A SERVICE that has helped Warrington residents at some of the most poignant moments of their lives marks its 20th anniversary later this month.
The Warrington Bereavement Service (WBS), formerly the Warrington Bereavement Counselling Service, started in 1987 as a service for people coping with the death of a loved one.
Initially started with 20 trainee volunteers, it has become a vital service in the town.
A spokesman said: "It is clear that over the past 20 years, WBS has made a significant contribution to community care.
"The success of the service is in no small way dependent upon the efforts of those loyal volunteers who, week by week, give up precious time to provide vital support to those who are struggling to come to terms with the death of a loved one."
The service will be holding its annual general meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 25 at the postgraduate centre at Warrington Hospital.
All former volunteers are welcome.
