MORE readers have spoken out about the trees that line Reynolds Street in Westy.
Last month the Warrington Guardian reported on a resident's complaint to the council that trees on Reynolds Street were causing damage to his car and garden with a slimy residue covering his home.
A number of residents said that they had repeatedly asked for the council to cut back the trees to stop the damage but still no work has been done.
The council has said that the street was on its list for highway pruning in 2008/09 and additional roadside pruning was carried out twice a year.
In a letter to the Warrington Guardian Mavis Haslam, of Nook Lane, said: "I have reported the tree at the bus stop at the top of Reynolds Street three times this year. You have to duck down to get past it to get to the bus stop. They have not been pruned once, never mind twice a year."
Another resident said: "I have contacted the council on numerous occasions with regard to the overgrown trees which also prevent light coming in to the houses.
The pavement surrounding the trees has lifted due to the roots of the trees and this has also caused problems in my drive and garden.
"Although the overgrown branches are a problem, I am concerned with regard to the damage that the roots are doing to the pavements and to our property."
Warrington Borough Council failed to respond to our questions despite several calls vicki.stockman@guardiangrp.co.uk
