TEENAGERS ran roadblocks to divert traffic after flooding in Sankey Bridges.
They sent drivers away from Liverpool Road last week after a 70-yard stretch became impassable to traffic.
"The kids were brilliant," said resident of 56 years, Pat Rowland, aged 70, whose house was slightly flooded inside the door and whose car was also waterlogged.
"Three of them stood down one end and three at the other. People complain about teenagers but the ones round here are the best.
"They did all they could to help me."
Martin Hausel, aged 31, said: "I parked my car as a roadblock and the lads made little signs with arrows on to put on the cars to send them round."
The flooding came from a blocked United Utilities grid and was cleared after around two hours when council workers came to fix the gird, said residents.
The puddle varied from one to two feet deep and ran from around Golden City Chinese takeaway towards the junction with Marina Avenue.
Mrs Rowland said it was not the first time the road had flooded and that spray from the numerous lorries that use the small road could reach her bedroom window.
She added: "When I phoned for the police to block it there were none available for an hour although I suppose they had other things to do."
